How to Assemble a Custom Skateboard
If you're aiming for a personalised setup with precisely the right components, a custom skateboard is a must. In this swift video guide, Jonas demonstrates how to put together a complete skateboard promptly.
- Begin by removing the backing, which is the non-adhesive part
- Next, apply the griptape to the deck (start at one end and work upwards)
- Score the griptape using an Allen key or a screwdriver
- Employ a box knife to trim any surplus from the griptape – always cut from below at approximately 45°
- Smooth the edges using the rough side of the griptape scraps
- Make perforations in the griptape where the bolts will pass through, using an Allen key or a screwdriver
- Insert the bolts into these openings
- Secure the trucks onto the four bolts
- Attach the locking nuts and tighten them in a cross-diagonal arrangement
- Replicate this procedure for the other truck
- Utilise the truck axle for installing the wheel bearings
- Ensure that the speed rings are positioned on both the top and bottom
- Firmly tighten the locking nut and ensure that the wheel can rotate freely
- Repeat the process for the remaining wheels
You've now assembled every component, and it's time to flaunt your prowess! Skate away!!
