Street Hockey Sticks
Which Stick Is Suitable for Street Hockey?
The initial consideration when selecting a street hockey stick is the material. Often referred to as roller hockey sticks or inline hockey sticks, these are crafted from either wood or composite materials.
On the whole, street hockey enthusiasts lean towards sticks featuring wooden shafts. Wooden sticks are typically more affordable than their composite counterparts and are considered more fitting for street hockey due to their durability and weight. Conversely, sticks comprising composite materials are lighter, offering enhanced control.
How Do I Determine the Right Size for a Street Hockey stick?
For inline and roller hockey, stick measurements consider only the shaft (excluding the blade). Generally, sticks designed for adults range between 140 and 158 cm (4'8"-5'3"). In contrast, those for juniors are more slender and measure between 116 and 138 cm (3'10"-4'7").
To select the appropriate hockey stick size, stand it upright before you, resting the blade toe on the ground to ensure the shaft reaches your chin. The correct size is when the stick does not extend past your chin while you are wearing skates.
Is It Possible to Use an Ice hockey stick for Street Hockey?
Indeed, ice hockey sticks can be employed for roller and inline hockey. However, opting for an ABS blade in street hockey is advisable, as such blades are generally more robust and withstand the roughness of asphalt better.
