Parts - Freeskates
Which Components Are Necessary for My Freeskates?
Freeskates, also referred to as urban skates or freestyle skates, provide an excellent means to navigate the city or simply enjoy yourself at the skate park. Skating frequently results in wear and tear on your components, necessitating their replacement. It is advisable to inspect your freeskates’ components following each skating session.
Elements such as freeskate wheels, frames, bearings, buckles, and liners can negatively impact your skating experience. It is wise to have a set of new freestyle equipment available for when your existing components begin to show signs of wear.
At What Point Should Freeskate Components Be Replaced?
The interval for replacing your freeskate equipment is directly related to the frequency of your freeskating activities. All parts of your skates should be regularly monitored.
Wheels and Bearings
The durability and wear of freestyle skate wheels depend on their softness and frequency of usage. It is important that freeskate wheels do not wear excessively, as this could make the skates difficult to control and increase the risk of dangerous falls. Bearings are typically the most fragile part of your skates; however, with regular cleaning and keeping them away from grime, they can last several years. Should you find that your skates no longer glide smoothly, it’s time to replace the bearings.
Liners and Buckles
Your freeskates’ liners are more prone to wear than the boot due to their softer composition. Applying antibacterial spray can help avert the formation of bacteria and mould. Buckles are pivotal for your balance and stability while skating. Although they generally have a long lifespan, if worn, they might break during skating, compromising your safety.
Brakes
Should you have a brake fitted on your freeskates, be aware of its rapid wear rate. The skate surface, your weight, and skating frequency will influence how regularly brakes require replacement. Frequent inspections of your brake will help you gauge its rate of wear.
