Kick Scooter Bearings
Smooth Rides with Kick Scooter Bearings
Bearings in scooters ensure that your wheels spin effortlessly and swiftly. Each wheel requires two bearings, and although these come pre-assembled with your scooter, they will eventually wear out and need replacement. Each bearing contains small balls inside, which aid in distributing the weight when riding.
Bearings for push scooters are typically crafted from steel or ceramic. Steel bearings are the most prevalent due to their durability and suitability for everyday use. Ceramic bearings tend to produce less heat and friction, and can often rotate faster than steel. Nevertheless, steel bearings are almost always the more economical choice.
Factors to Consider When Choosing Scooter Bearings
During your search for scooter bearings, you will frequently encounter the term “ABEC”. This represents a quality rating of the bearing on a scale from 1-9. A higher number signifies greater “precision” in the bearing, suggesting that it should provide smoother spins. However, bearings with a lower ABEC rating are generally quite robust, so a lower rating does not necessarily infer that a bearing will be unsuitable for your arrangement.
The number 608 will also appear often. This denotes the size of the bearing. It’s the most commonly used size for scooters, skateboards, and skates, with an inner diameter of 8mm and an outer diameter of 22mm.
