Stunt scooter Brakes & Scooter Fenders
Stunt scooter Brakes Ensuring Your Command
There are two principal sorts of scooter brakes: flex fenders and spring brakes. Alternatively, a scooter fender can replace a brake. Some scooters have these pre-installed, whereas others do not, requiring you to select the type suitable for your stunt scooter. Every scooter brake is positioned on the rear wheel, and they are simple to install and robust.
Scooter Fenders, Flex Fenders, and Spring Brakes - What's the Distinction?
Traditional scooter fenders are crafted to prevent your rear foot from striking the rear wheel. While not actual brakes, they serve as a barrier between your foot and the wheel, despite being located similarly. They are beneficial for preventing unintentional braking when your foot lands too close to the end of the deck after executing tricks like airs or tail whips. The fender obstructs the foot from hitting the rotating rear wheel, enabling a seamless roll-out from the trick.
Flex fenders, true to their name, are flexible and can bend when pressed by the back foot. This method aids in reducing speed, but caution is needed to avoid applying too much pressure that would stop the wheel from rotating. Such action would lead to flat spots, negatively affecting wheel performance.
The other braking approach outlined is the scooter spring brake. It utilises a coil spring that keeps the brake away from the wheel but allows braking when pressed with the foot. This brake type is often louder compared to fenders and might demand additional upkeep.
Regardless of the stunt scooter brake system you decide on, ensure its compatibility with your deck and the wheel size in use. For further details, refer to Buying Scooter Brakes.
