Stunt scooter Compression
What is Scooter Compression?
The compression system on a stunt scooter is the joining point for the bar, fork, and deck. Its role is to securely fasten the scooter fork and bar, ensuring the bar is firmly in place. This helps to reduce slack and unwanted movement, allowing the bars to turn smoothly.
Every stunt scooter requires a compression system. When selecting one, consider its compatibility with your forks and bars. Your riding style and personal preference may also influence your decision.
Here, you will discover stunt scooter compression kits, compression bolts, and conversion kits. For more visual guides and videos on installation, refer to our guide - Buying Scooter Compression.
What are the Different Stunt scooter Compression Systems?
HIC Scooter Compression
HIC - Hidden Integrated Compression. This original scooter compression system is renowned for being reliable, lightweight, and easy to maintain. It requires either oversized bars (35 mm) or a scooter shim for installation. Some HIC compression kits come with a shim.
IHC Scooter Compression
IHC - Internal Hidden Compression is a slightly smaller and lighter variant of the HIC system. Unlike most stunt scooter compressions, IHC is integrated into the fork itself, reducing the number of parts to assemble. IHC systems work with aluminium bars featuring oversized clamps and standard steel bars (inner diameter 28 mm) with a shim and standard clamp.
SCS Scooter Compression
SCS - Standard Compression System is considered the strongest compression system available. It uses a four-bolt clamp and does not need a bar slit. If your bar has a slit, you can use a bar adapter. Although the larger clamp adds weight, it is a favourite among many riders due to its appealing design.
ICS Scooter Compression
ICS - Inverted Compression System. Named as such because the bolt inserts vertically into the fork, tightening to a star nut within the bar. The ICS system is only compatible with standard-sized bars featuring a slit. The ICS is exceptionally light and can be used with both steel and aluminium bars.
The fork and bars are the components that need to be compatible with the compression system. If you are planning to upgrade them, explore our Stunt scooter Forks & Stunt scooter Bars.
