Inline skate Maintenance
Ensure Your Inline skates Are Well-Maintained
By keeping up with the maintenance of your inline skates, you can prolong their lifespan and avoid spending money on expensive replacement parts. Fortunately, maintaining inline skates doesn't need to be overly complex or take up too much of your time. A variety of maintenance tools and accessories are available to keep skates looking and feeling brand new.
Some examples of tools for inline skate upkeep include disinfectant spray for eliminating unpleasant smells, metal-compatible glue, and bearing cleaner.
What is the Best Way to Clean My Inliners?
Regular cleaning is crucial for the upkeep of your inline skates. For the boot, frame, and wheels, you can simply use a damp cloth, water, and standard dish soap. When it comes to the liner, consult the specific model guidelines to determine the appropriate washing temperature.
Your bearings are one of the most critical parts to keep clean. For this task, you will need a specialised skate bearing cleaner and a cleansing solution. For comprehensive details on bearing maintenance, refer to our guide on Bearing Cleaning and Lubrication.
What is the Method for Removing Bearings from Inline skates?
To remove bearings, use an Allen key specifically for inline skates. Insert the key into your axle while securely holding the wheel as you loosen it, which will prevent the axle from being stripped. After removing the wheels, slide your tool halfway into the centre of the bearing and, by rotating the wheel, carefully pry the bearing and spacer out.
If your wheels have a long sleeve bearing spacer, rollerblade bearing removal tools come with a bearing pusher. Simply insert the tool into the bearing and push it out while keeping the wheel steady.
