Cruiser Decks
Understanding Cruiser Decks
Cruiser decks are reminiscent of the classic skateboards from the 1970s. Much like those from that period, cruiser skateboard decks stand out with their stylish forms and eye-catching graphics. The distinction between cruiser decks and many contemporary skateboard decks lies in their more directional design, featuring a flat nose and a kicktail. Additionally, they usually exhibit a gentle or non-existent concave.
As implied by the name, cruiser decks are crafted for leisurely rides around town. Although it is possible to perform simple tricks on a cruiser, the options are limited since the decks are not intended for stunts.
Choosing the Right Size Deck for Cruising
Ultimately, selecting the size is a matter of personal preference. Cruiser decks typically range in size from 25 to 34 inches in length and 7.5 to 10 inches in width. Short decks are perfect for younger and smaller riders, while mid-sized decks are suitable for riders of any skill level or age.
Much like some longboard decks, cruiser decks serve a similar function, but their smaller size offers an advantage. This feature is particularly convenient when navigating busy city streets. You might also consider a mini cruiser deck, which is about the same dimensions as a Penny Board.
