Nikwax
In 1977, at the age of 22, Nick concocted his first batch using a discarded tea urn, a stove, a jug, and some supplies procured from a nearby hardware shop. He manually poured the soft wax into tins, then screened them by hand. With his second-hand Morris 1000 van, Nick toured the outdoor trade sector selling his products.
Within a few years, he relocated to a workshop in Clerkenwell, London. Before long, Nick was exporting his Nikwax to eight countries. 'The product' was a revolutionary non-softening waterproof wax designed primarily for leather boots. Its effectiveness set the benchmark for a new category of aftercare products under the Nikwax brand.
